Why Should I Get My Tires Rotated?
Tire rotations are critical to your safety and efficiency of your tires and in the end, save you money. As you routinely drive your vehicle your tires wear on the outside edges as your tires lean while turning corners. Your rear tires follow the fronts which will wear more evenly. Driving your wheels past the recommended maintenance period will cause your front tires to wear down faster and unevenly than the rest. This puts you at risk of unsafe handling, tire blowouts, punctures, hydroplaning, which will cause you to replace your tires thousands of miles sooner.
Typically, your vehicle manufacturer recommends rotating your tires about every 5,000-7,000 miles. For example, an oil change is recommended for every 3,000 miles so, your second oil change is a perfect reminder for you to also get your tires rotated.
Not every car is treated the same for tire rotations. Each vehicle has a specific rotational pattern depending upon the type of vehicle your drive.
If you drive a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) vehicle, the front wheels are rotated directly to the rear and then cross the rear wheels to the front.
If you drive a Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicle, the rear wheels are rotated directly to the front and the front wheels will be crossed to the rear.
If you drive an All Wheel Drive (AWD) vehicle, the front tires will be crossed and switched to the back and the back wheels will first be crossed and placed in the front.
Tire Rotations will not only keep you safe but save you from wasting your time and money.
